Kazuo Ishiguro - Premiul Nobel pentru literatură 2017

Scriitorul englez Kazuo Ishiguro este laureatul Premiului Nobel pentru Literatură, 2017. Premiul a fost anuntat pe 5 octombrie 2017, la ora 14.00 (ora României), la Stockholm.

Kazuo Ishiguro s-a născut pe 8 noiembrie 1954 la Nagasaki, în Japonia. Familia s-a mutat în Marea Britanie când avea 5 ani. În anii 1970, Ishiguro a absolvit Universitatea din Kent, unde a studiat limba engleză şi filosofia, după care a studiat scrisul creativ la University of East Anglia. Și-a vizitat țara natală abia după ce a devenit adult.

A debutat ca prozator la douăzeci şi opt de ani cu Amintirea palidă a munţilor, roman recompensat cu The Winifred Holtby Prize of the Royal Society of Literature şi tradus ulterior în treisprezece limbi. În 1986 i-a apărut al doilea roman, Un artist al lumii trecătoare (Polirom, 2005, 2013), nominalizat în acelaşi an la Booker Prize, laureat al Whitbread Book of the Year Award şi tradus în paisprezece limbi. Ambele romane au acțiuni plasate în Nagasaki, la câțiva ani după cel de-Al Doilea Război Mondial.

1989 este pentru Ishiguro anul de varf al carierei, autorul obţinand cu Rămăşiţele zilei (Polirom, 2002, 2012) ravnitul Booker Prize şi care a fost adoptat într-un film ce a primit opt nominalizări la premiile Oscar, în care rolurile principale au fost interpretate de actorii Anthony Hopkins și Emma Thompson. În 1995 Ishiguro a publicat Nemîngîiaţii, urmat de Să nu mă părăseşti (Polirom, 2006, 2011), roman de asemenea ecranizat, cu Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan și Andrew Garfieldiar in rolurile principale. În acelaşi an Kazuo Ishiguro a primit distincţia de Officer of The British Empire for Services to Literature şi, în 1998, Ordinul de Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres din partea statului francez. În 2015 îi apare romanul fantasy Uriaşul îngropat (Polirom, 2015).

Pe lângă cele opt romane publicate, Kazuo Ishiguro a scris și scenarii pentru mai multe producții cinematografice și de televiziune.

În România, romanele sale au fost traduse la editura Polirom.

Premiul Nobel pentru literatură este cel de-al patrulea anunţat din seria distincţiilor care sunt comunicate în fiecare an. Azi, 6 octombrie, va fi atribuit premiul Nobel pentru pace.

Potrivit tradiţiei, premiile Nobel vor fi înmânate ca în fiecare an în timpul unui banchet oficial ce va avea loc pe 10 decembrie, data la care se comemorează moartea lui Alfred Nobel.
