Falling in love is easy. Staying in love is hard. In this heart-pounding follow-up to Tangled by New York Times bestseller Emma Chase, Kate reveals that there is trouble in paradise, when unexpected circumstances force her and Drew to "renegotiate" their relationship.
There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself—and of me.
But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice; the most important of my life. Drew already made his—in fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville, Ohio, alone. Well, sort of alone...
What I've come to realize is that old habits die hard, and sometimes you have to go back to where you began before you can move ahead.
MY THOUGHTS
I loved this book!
Kind of surprising, isn't it? While the first book left me disappointed,
Twisted was all kinds of fun.
We find Drew and Kate two years
later.
They're still together, still in
love and are as happy as a young couple can be. Drew has changed. He's not the
careless playboy anymore. He only has eyes for his Kate now and has left his
old life behind.
Doesn't everything
seem too perfect to be true? Something is bound to go wrong, right? Right. Can
you guess who screws up? I think it's obvious.
One would think that Drew has
learned his lesson after the events from Tangled, but apparently he has not.
Yes, he loves Kate and trusts
her but deep down, he still has insecurities. Those insecurities and his acting
before thinking will drive an edge between our lovers and have Kate walk away.
She goes back to her hometown,
nursing a broken heart and trying to make a decision that will forever change
her life.
The whole story is written from
Kate's point of view and, surprisingly, I found myself laughing out loud the
entire book in spite of the sad situation.
Back home, Kate reconnects with
her ex-boyfriend and childhood best friend, Billy. He's a famous singer now and
he's home on a break between events.
There's no tension between them
after the breakup so they step back into being best friends with ease. She
needs all the support she can get right now.
When Delores joins the happy
reunion, things become even more interesting. That woman is something else!
Together, Dee and Billy help Kate deal with the pain and help her get back on
her feet.
Are you wondering
why I loved this book so much? Let me show you.
“However—for you
guys out there? Even if your girlfriend’s tirade is PMS derived? Don’t point that out to her. It won’t end well for
you.
I pick up my shoe
and throw it, hitting Drew right between his bright blue eyes.
His hands go to his
forehead. “What the sh*t?! I told you not to freak out!”
“Everyone—can I have your attention, please?” She beams at Steven and then goes on. “Mackenzie has an announcement she’d like to make.”Mackenzie stands on her chair and proclaims, “My mom and dad had sex!”The entire table is silent.
“It’s called a razor; you should get one. If ancient man could figure it out, you’ve got a slim chance. Oh—and Pearl Jam called. They want their flannel back.”Billy’s brows go up. “You’re criticizing my style? Really, Cruella? How many puppies had to die so you could wear that coat?”“Eat sh*t.”
“At first, Delores doesn’t say a word. Then she makes the sign of the cross. “The Antichrist has spawned? For f*ck’s sake, we have to hose you down with holy water or something. Have the Four Horsemen arrived yet?”
See what I mean?
I'm still not a big
fan of Drew but I promise, you won't be disappointed. Twisted had me hooked
from the very beginning. Great job, Emma! Loved it!
Oh, and I can't
wait to read Delores's and Matthew's book. That should be interesting.
Happy reading!

Twisted was different than Tangled in many ways, but I still enjoyed reading it. It had moments when I laughed out loud or when I wanted to talk some sense into Drew's mind.
