PAREREA MEA

Experta in romane care te fac sa dai din ras in plans si apoi din nou in ras, Jennifer L. Armentrout nu mai are nevoie de nicio prezentare. Daca nu ati citit cele doua romane contemporane ale ei aparute la noi, sigur ati auzit macar despre seria LUX, din care, de asemenea, gasiti in librarii primele doua volume.

Astazi va prezint o alta serie scrisa de ea, Dark Elements, o trilogie cu demoni si gargui sau Wardens, cum isi spun ei, ce duc un razboi impotriva demonilor care incearca sa puna stapanire pe Pamant. Existenta garguilor este stiuta de omenire, insa adversarii lor sunt tinuti secret, pentru a nu crea si mai multa panica printre cei de rand.

Voi ati mai citit carti cu si despre gargui? Eu nu si, dupa zecile de serii cu vampiri, vrajitoare si varcolaci, pot sa spun ca m-a surprins in mod placut. Cred ca aceasta categorie de personaje supranaturale merita explorata mai mult, iar ideea lui Jennifer de a le aborda mi s-a parut foarte buna.

Stone Cold Touch continua povestea exact de unde a fost intrerupta in White Hot Kiss asa ca n-o sa va dezvalui prea mult din actiune, pentru ca aceste carti trebuie traite si simtite de voi. Spun doar ca Layla sufera foarte mult dupa Roth, cu care a avut o legatura speciala in primul volum, el fiind singurul de care se putea apropria fara ca puterile ei sa il raneasca. Am urat fiecare secunda din finalul primei carti. Jennifer si obiceiul ei de a termina cartile cu cate un cliffhanger de zile mari! Dar inima mi-a revenit la loc dupa ce am trecut de primele capitole din a doua.

Daca va aduceti aminte din primul volum, Layla, pe care eu o ador si cred ca este preferata mea din toate eroinele lui Jenn, ducea o grea lupta interioara, in primul rand pentru ca isi dorea sa fie normala, dar si din cauza celor doi baietii din viata ei, Roth si Zayne. Acum, problemele ei sunt ceva mai complicate, pentru ca nu stie in cine sa mai aiba incredere. Propria familie ii intoarce spatele, iar faptul ca puterile ii cresc de la o zi la alta nu face decat sa inrautateasca situatia.

Un lucru care nu sunt singura daca imi place sau nu este initiativa lui Jennifer de a lasa la aprecierea cititorilor cu cine va ramane Layla la finalul trilogiei. Consider ca, odata ce a ales sa creeze un triunghi amoros, trebuia sa isi asume si alegerea finala, indiferent de reactiile fanilor. Dar votul s-a incheiat cu ceva timp in urma, iar noi vom afla rezultatul abia la sfarsitul volumului trei. Roth sau Zayne? Eu inclin spre Roth si pe el l-am votat, chiar daca in Stone Cold Touch am descoperit ca si Zayne este un personaj de admirat, ca si el o iubeste pe Layla.

Indiferent care va fi deznadamantul, recomand tuturor seria Dark Elements. N-o veti putea lasa din mana!

My review ...

Elena has survived another battle between archangels even if not unscathed and it’s now time for her to return to New York. 

It has been a year and many things have changed. She needs time to adjust but it’s not meant to be. The weather seems to have gone mad and all over the world people are suffering the aftereffects. 

Even her beloved city is hit. The vampires are breaking their contracts and start killing indiscriminately. Strange murders occur and there is no explanation for any of this. 

Her bond with Raphael is stronger now but still, there are moments when she fears she might lose him. He is centuries old and an archangel after all and she’s not an expert when it comes to relationships. 

Her memories are clearer now. She finally remembered everything but there are still things she’s not ready to deal with yet. 

But when Raphael starts to act strange and a vampire targets her family again, Elena decides it’s time to find answers. 

What they find out is exactly what Raphael feared. An Ancient, one of the sleeping archangels, is awakening. This archangel might be the one he thought will never see again. 

Together, Elena and Raphael will face another threat and their pasts, and together they’ll mend those wounds that have been open and bleeding in their souls for too long.

I've been writing as long as I can remember and all of my stories always held a thread of romance (even when I was writing about a prince who could shoot lasers out of his eyes). I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.

I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

RECENZIA VOLUMULUI I

Parerea mea: Nicio poveste de dragoste nu se poate compara cu aceea dintre Carmine și Haven. Asta este concluzia la care veți ajunge și voi dacă veți citi Sempre: Redemtion.

In acest volum doi, regăsim personajele de care ne-am îndrăgostit și care ne-au ținut cu sufletul la gură în prima parte a călătoriei lor. Unele sunt fericite și pare că, pentru ele, pericolul a trecut. Altele abia de acum încolo dau de greu.

Deși cei doi protagoniști s-au confruntat cu situații extrem de dificile, dragostea lor a rămas la fel de puternică și încrederea unul în celălalt nu s-a zdruncinat nici măcar o secundă. Dar, oare cât timp va mai fi așa?

Încercarea lor de a trăi o viață normală, liniștită, este, încă de la început, soldată eșecului, pentru că răspunsurile pe care le-au căutat apar de nicăieri și amenință să distrugă totul.

Știm cu toții că Haven este un personaj puternic, atât de puternic, încât cu greu am putea crede că poate da dovadă de și mai multă forță. Dar, surprinzător, poate. Și chiar dacă, aparent, Carmine pare nepăsător, ia decizii iraționale și au existat momente în care nu am fost deloc de acord cu atitudinea lui, îi protejează mereu pe cei pe care îi iubește.

Corrado Moretti, unchiul lui Carmine, este unul dintre personajele mele preferate și mă bucur că am avut parte de el și în această carte. Foarte bine conturat, cu un caracter deosebit, de care nu ai cum să nu te înspăimânți. Un alt personaj pentru care am stat cu inima strânsă pe tot parcursul primului volum este Dr. Vincent DeMarco, care m-a impresionat până la lacrimi, riscând totul pentru a-și proteja familia.

Sfârșitul este uluitor, imprevizibil, trist și fericit, cu alinări și pierderi.

Și aici, ca și în Sempre, J.M. Darhower a creat situații pline de suspans, care vă vor obliga să întoarceți filă după filă.

Sempre este una dintre seriile care oferă adevărate lecții de viață. Vă las cu o parte din citatele mele preferate.

Lectură plăcută!

She smiled, her eyes fluttering closed. “It’s saying you love me.”

“I do,” he said. “No matter what. Sempre.”

That word washed through her. “Sempre.”

“Out of curiosity, would you be willing to take a lie detector test?”

“I’m afraid not,” he said. “It goes against my religion.”

His brow furrowed. “How?”

“Only God can judge me. I certainly don’t trust a machine to do it.” 

It’s strange how those things work. One minute you’re the servant, the next you’re Cinderella, and then . . . then the story is over and you’re forced to close the book.

Ce ai face daca ar trebui sa alegi?

Mia este o violoncelista talentata in varsta de 17 ani, cu o familie iubitoare si un prieten minunat, Adam. Ea nu trebuie decat sa aleaga daca va merge la New York pentru a studia la Julliard sau daca va ramane in Oregon cu cei dragi.

Insa intr-o dimineata cu ninsoare, totul se schimba, iar decizia pe care brusc trebuie sa o ia este dramatica si dureroasa. Mia isi pierde parintii si fratele mai mic intr-un accident rutier, si, cu toate ca nu isi aminteste momentul impactului, ea ii poate vedea pe cei din jur si pe sine.

Romanul este scris la persoana intai, Mia evoca evenimente din viata sa, descrie ceea ce vede si aude in spital, desi nu poate simti nimic si este din ce in ce mai slabita.

Dragostea pentru cei ramasi in viata si pentru Adam si pasiunea pentru muzica clasica vor determina alegerea pe care tanara o face la final.

Daca as ramane atinge teme importante, despre viata, moarte si despre cum totul se poate schimba iremediabil intr-o secunda. Cartea este inspirata de o tragedie reala.

Părerea mea...

Nu mă așteptam ca Dacă aș rămâne să îmi placă atât de mult. Este o carte mai tristă și credeam că îmi trebuie o anumită stare de spirit ca să o încep, de aceea, trebuie să recunosc, am ocolit-o timp de mai bine de o lună. Știam ca e in biblioteca, voiam sa o citesc dar pur si simplu nu simțeam nevoia unei povești deprimante și a stării de după, știți voi.

Apoi, stăteam și mă gândeam oare cum a putut să umple autoarea 200 de pagini numai cu un accident, cum e relatată acțiunea și cat de multe vede Mia din afara pentru a justifica o poveste de așa dimensiuni. Deci, cu alte cuvinte, nu eram sigură că o să îmi placă această carte, în ciuda miilor de recenzii pozitive.

Dar, acum 2 zile, mi-am luat inima în dinți și am început-o, pentru că am în plan să cumpăr DVD-ul și nu vreau să îl vizionez înainte să fi citit cartea. Acum, îmi pare foarte bine ca i-am dat o șansă, este un roman excelent pe care îl recomand tuturor.

Mia povestește întâmplări atât din prezent cât și din trecut. În amintirile ei, ea găsește evenimente care se potrivesc cu ceea ce se întâmplă în jurul ei în prezent, iar acestea ne fac să înțelegem mai bine prin ce trec personajele care stau și o veghează lângă patul de spital și de ce, în ciuda familiei fericite și a realizărilor ei, Mia era nesigura, ba chiar, poate, un pic nemulțumită de modul în care evolua viața ei.

Mi-a fost greu să îi observ lupta, necazurile prin care trece și pierderile pe care le suferă, rând pe rând și, de multe ori, m-am întrebat ce decizie aș fi luat eu într-o așa situație. Nu știu nici acum răspunsul și nici nu îmi doresc să îl aflu, dar am înțeles-o pe Mia și nu aș fi judecat-o dacă ar fi ales diferit.

Relația dintre ea și Adam este emoționanta, de o sensibilitate nemaipomenită și, chiar dacă nu este totul perfect și amândoi au îndoieli, iubirea lor depășește barierele fizicului. Deși toți cei rămași în jurul ei o susțin, numai Adam are puterea de a-i influența deciziile și o face într-o manieră impresionantă.

Decizia de a rămâne nu e atât de simplă. Oare alege să rămână pentru Adam? Sau alege să rămână, dar luându-și adio de la el? Sper ca în volumul doi să aflu răspunsurile.

„Dacă rămâi, voi face tot ce vrei. Voi renunța la trupă,voi merge cu tine la New York. Dar, dacă vrei să plec, voi face și asta. Vorbeam cu Liz și ea mi-a spus că, poate, să revii la vechea ta viață ar putea fi prea dureros, că poate ar fi mai simplu să renunți la noi. Asta ar fi cumplit, dar aș accepta. My Review ...

This is epic conclusion of the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series.

What a ride it has been.

While all the brothers and their spouses make an appearance, this is, in principle, Beckett and Eve’s story. 

He has earned quite a reputation even if everything he has ever done was to fight for his family. Now Beckett is really trying to abide by the law and be an outstanding citizen. Trying being the key word.

Eve is a survivor. She’s overcome many tragedies and grew up to be a strong, determined woman who won’t allow anything and anyone to put her down.

Her relationship with Beckett it’s explosive. In a good way. You’ll be in for some hot and steamy love scenes here but, if you have read the previous installments, you probably know already what to expect. Then again, maybe not.

There are so many twists and turns in the plot and the whole story is packed with dark humor, action, emotions, drama, angst and, with every turn of the page you’ll find it more and more interesting. It will draw you in from the very first page.

The bonds between the brothers are incredibly strong even if their journey in life has been filled with nothing but pain and loss at times but there’s still love, trust and devotion.

Now it’s the time for them to take one last stand and make Poughkeepsie safe again.

I don’t want to give you spoilers and ruin the book so you’ll just have to read and find out more.

Poughkeepsie has become one of my favorite series and I highly recommend it. It’s worth it.

“Come with me.” He led her to the beach again, but during dinner a few people had been busy. It was now lined with an aisle of candles, and a man stood close to the breaking surf, hands crossed, waiting. Someone had used the surrounding sand as a canvas, creating a swirling pattern. Their names were part of the art.

What? She asked without a sound.

“I want you to marry me. Here. Now.”

Beckett let go of her hand and strode away. When he turned around, close to the water at the end of the aisle, he hoped to hell she wasn’t running in the other direction.

IN THE SERIES

        

There are a lot of eyes in Debra Anastasia’s house in Maryland. First, her own creepy peepers are there, staring at her computer screen. She’s made two more sets of eyes with her body, and the kids they belong to are amazing. The poor husband is still looking at her after 17 years of marriage. At least he likes to laugh. Then the freaking dogs are looking at her—six eyeballs altogether, though the old dog is blind. And the cat watches her too, mostly while knocking stuff off the counter and doing that internal kitty laugh when Deb can’t catch the items fast enough. 

In between taking care of everything those eyes involve, Debra creates pretend people in her head and paints them on the giant, beautiful canvas of your imagination. What an amazing job that is. The stories hit her hard while driving the minivan or shaving her legs, especially when there’s no paper and pen around. In all of the lies she writes hides her heart, so thank you for letting it play in your mind.
