REVIEW: Seduced in the Dark by C. J. Roberts

BOOK TWO OF THE DARK DUET
The exciting, titillating, and action-filled conclusion to Captive in the Dark.
What is the price of redemption?
Rescued from sexual slavery by a mysterious Pakistani officer, Caleb carries the weight of a debt that must be paid in blood.
The road has been long and fraught with uncertainty, but for Caleb and Livvie, it’s all coming to an end.
Can he surrender the woman he loves for the sake of vengeance?

Or will he make the ultimate sacrifice?

Quote:
It seemed to Caleb, the nature of human beings revolved around one empirical truth: we want what we cannot have. For Eve, it was the fruit of the forbidden tree. For Caleb, it was Livvie.

My thoughts: Well, let me say that I hate this book. It's not a joke, I really hate it. And the things that made me feel this way are neither the sometimes hot, but always very disturbing scenes, nor the unhealthy relationship that develops between  Caleb and Livvie. It's the fall of personality and the decay of the human being that I found perfectly described in there. Nevertheless, I'm well aware that all the horrible things pictured in its pages can happen in real life and maybe are truly happening right now in some part of this world.

It was very hard for me to love the characters, I just couldn't. And I don't think I'll miss them either, I don't want to relate to any of them or understand their motives. But their story will keep me up many nights still, and isn't that what a great book should be able to do? Make you question all you've ever known about the world you live in and ask yourself what would you do if faced with a situation like that?

A million stars for the story line and the alternation between points of view. They give the reader multiple sights into the story and create a perfect balance. And another million stars for the ending, because this book has the most beautiful, heart melting, tear bringing ending I've ever read!

I really need to take a long break from this kind of stuff and read something light and fun. Fantasy would be perfect. So, read it at your own risk, but it would be a great loss not to.

SOME QUOTES I LIKED

“I've been doing this a long time- manipulating people to get my way. That's why you think you love me. Because I've broken you down and built you back up to believe it. It wasn't an accident. Once you leave this behind..... you'll see that.
“Live for me, Kitten. Be all those things you'd never be with me. Go to school. Meet a normal boy and fall in love. Forgive me. It's time for you to go, Kitten. Time for us both, to go.”
“I"ve heard it said, time heals all wounds, but if a dream can pull you so deeply into your past you can't remember the present, I'm not sure my wounds will ever heal. Caleb lives in my dreams.”
Happy reading!

Foarte frumos scris. Felicitari, Cris!

Imi plac citatele, viata sucks de multe ori. ;)
